Prior to obtaining her RN qualifications, Lara obtained a College Degree in Liberal Arts in 1990, graduating as valedictorian. She has always maintained a love for literature, the Creative Arts and philosophy.

Lara graduated from the Heritage College Nursing program in 1994 as the proud recipient of the Deanna Hughes Memorial Award which is presented to the graduating nursing student who in the opinion of the Nursing Department best combined: excellence in clinical performance, leadership, and academic achievement.

Lara’s nursing career spans 28 years, starting off in fertility, family medicine and the medical units at the QCH and the General Hospital.

Lara was mentored by the renowned Dermatologist Dr Sharyn Laughlin for over 15 years. Dr Laughlin completed a fellowship   with    the late Dr Leon    Goldman, the “grandfather of laser medicine”. This led to Dr Laughlin becoming    one of 3 dermatologists to start the sub- specialty of laser dermatology    in Canada. With this privilege Lara has enjoyed over 15 years of vast cosmetic and medical laser experience ranging from FCO2, PDL, Ulthera, BBL, Skin tightening, micro needling, PRP therapy, as well as Botox hyperhidrosis, intralesional Steroid injections, and acne and burn scar revisions.  Lara  was the  beloved  Nurse Team Leader for the vascular  program,  managing care for  paediatric and adult  portwine stain  clinics, and   was part of  longterm research studies  focused on improving patient care for these vascular conditions. A deep understanding of general dermatology, broadened by a  career long experience in laser therapy are why patients have trusted  Lara for over a decade with their skin health.  It is a distinct privilege to be able to say, "I treat the Laser  Queen of Canada herself!"

Lara is a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, RNAO, and the American Society of laser Medicine. Lara continues her laser nursing education by attending conferences, seminars and continued on line learning.
